The classic ten
Why security? Tell me about a time you defused a situation. How would you handle a shoplifter? What would you do if a colleague was drunk on shift? How do you stay alert on a night shift? What is reasonable force? Walk me through a fire evacuation. Describe your last conflict de-escalation. Why leave your last role? Any questions for us?
What good answers sound like
'A shoplifter': observe, describe, follow store policy on approach, involve police for arrests unless trained and legally sound to conduct a citizen's arrest, protect evidence, complete a written statement.
'Colleague drunk on shift': the safety of the site and the colleague come first. Escalate to the shift supervisor immediately. Do not confront in front of members of public.
The two questions you ask back
'What does a good shift look like on this site?' and 'How is CPD supported?' — both signal you think beyond the immediate role.
